So I’ve just heard that without warning, the Fed Govt has cut the solar PV rebate program three weeks early – sorry, bad luck. No rebates for you, you stupid lower-middle latte-swilling environmental apologists. In my own town, where the MASG is scarily well-organised and committed to at least trying to do something to improve the state of our engorged and filthy world instead of just wringing hands about it, there were 200+ solar installations in the pipeline and more queuing behind. There was a mad scrabble for paperwork and many missed out.
Yes, there will be a new scheme which is credit-based, but it won’t rebate with moolah up front, which will knock out those who want to go solar without a big wodge of available cash. And don’t even get me started on the madness that is allowing the power companies to use household PV systems to expiate their broader sins. You can buy papal indulgences, but it doesn’t truly get you into heaven.
All in all, it is just as the local Greens candidate predicted before KRudd and his Krew arrived. The new left isn’t that left. They just have younger haircuts.
Or no hair at all. To let Peter Garrett know what you think of this, and harness the power of the MHG, get busy. Sheesh, I remember when he spearheaded the privacy backlash against the Australia Card. I wonder if he wishes he was still a rock star.
